He studies viollin with San Antonio Symphony Concertmaster Eric Gratz, and receives additional mentorship from “Through the Staff” teacher (and From the Top alum) Nikki Naghavi. This summer Samuel will participate in the National Youth Orchestra of the United States of America (NYO-USA). Samuel was a member of the National Youth Orchestra 2 for its 2021 season and participated with the Sphinx Performance Academy in collaboration with the Curtis Institute of Music. He has served as concertmaster of the Texas Music Educators Association All-Region Orchestra and was a member of the TMEA All-State Orchestra. He has participated in masterclasses with David Halen, concertmaster of the St. Louis Symphony, David Chan, concertmaster of Metropolitan Symphony, and Joel Link, violinist in the Catalyst Quartet, among others. His overall goal in music is to serve others through the field, especially helping underserved and underrepresented communities that lack music education and access. His hobbies outside of music include track and field, graphic design, and reading.
