Benjamin Shaar (piano), 14, is a freshman at Newton South High School in his hometown of Newton, Massachusetts. He studies piano privately with Dr. Nilly Shilo. Ben was a second place winner in his division in the Steinway Society of Massachusetts Competition and has had the pleasure of performing in Boston’s Symphony Hall as well as Carnegie Hall. In his spare time, Ben likes to play basketball and hang out with friends and family.

Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
