Jane Story (violin), 16, lives in Stevens Point, Wisconsin and is a sophomore at the Academy of Excellence – Online. She began her violin studies at the age of four through the Aber Suzuki Center and currently studies with Dr. Anna Cromwell at the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point.

At the age of 12, Jane made her solo orchestral debut with the Madison Symphony Orchestra, and has since soloed with the Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra, the Civic Symphony of Green Bay, the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra, and the Birch Creek Symphony. She has also performed twice with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra – once as a member of the 2019 Bach Double Octet, and once as a side-by-side musician in the 2022 Stars of Tomorrow Concert. She has been a winner of the Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition (2018), the Madison Symphony Orchestra’s Fall Youth Concerto Competition (2018), the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Bach Double Competition (2019, 2020), the Civic Symphony of Green Bay’s Miroslav Pansky Concerto Competition (2021), and the Chippewa Valley Symphony Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition (2022). This past April, she performed with the Madison Symphony Orchestra (MSO) for the second time as a finalist in the Bolz Young Artist Competition – The Final Forte, for which she performed Édouard Lalo’s Symphonie Espagnole, Mvt. 1 with the MSO, broadcast live on PBS Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public Radio.

Jane is currently in her first season as a member of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestras program, where she plays in the Youth Symphony and is a member of the WYSO Honors String Quartet. Previously, she was a member of the Central Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra Program from 2016-2022 where she served as Concertmaster of the Philharmonia and Associate Concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra. In addition to violin, she is in her third year of studying piano with Rachel Snyder-Turney.

Receiving the Award will allow Jane to attend a summer festival and purchase an instrument that will carry her through college and into the professional field.
