Pianist Spreads the Power of Music

“When playing the piano at home, I open the windows so the trees, the birds, and my neighbor’s dogs can enjoy the music.”

15-year-old pianist Qiao Zhang performs Mozart’s Concerto in A Major with the Music Teachers’ Association of California Glendale Concerto Orchestra. He writes:

When I knew that From the Top would have a special episode featuring musicians with disabilities, I decided to resume my application and share my story. Despite the challenges I face in my life, I remain a happy and confident person. It is music that gives me faith, confidence, direction, and hope. Music has transformed my life.

Putting my hands on the piano, I’m instantly transformed. Speaking the language of music, I’m articulate, expressive, and confident. Music enables me to express my feelings, emotions, and understanding of the world in a deep, creative, and thoughtful way that no other language can.

Music will accompany my life. I will always spread the power of music to as many people as I can. I hope the music I bring to others can inspire and lead people to pursue their dreams.”
