Sara Flexer (cello), 14, hails from Palo Alto, California, and is a freshman at Castilleja School. She began studying cello at the age of six with Irene Sharp and currently studies with Jonathan Koh. Sara has won first prizes in the MTNA California State Competition, the ENKOR International Music Competition, and the Korea Times Youth Music Competition, and she was invited to perform at the Junior Bach Festival. Sara made her solo debut at age 10 with the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra and is a two-time winner of PACO’s concerto competition. She has performed in masterclasses with acclaimed artists including Zlatomir Fung, Matt Haimovitz, Wu Han, and Jennifer Frautschi. Sara attended the Music@Menlo Chamber Music Institute this past summer. Aside from music, she enjoys playing tennis, reading, and hiking with her dog.
