Michael Chong is a 16-year-old classical pianist and violinist from Round Rock, Texas. He plays Chopin’s Mazurka in B-flat minor, Op.24 No.4.
Michael says, “I’ve found profound inspiration in the power of music to transcend barriers and bring people together. I’m thrilled to be part of From the Top’s Musicians with Disabilities celebration! I believe in acknowledging and honoring the diverse talents of all musicians, regardless of any challenges they may face. By embracing diversity, we can create a more inclusive and vibrant space where everyone’s talents are celebrated and valued.”
Michael is a past fellow and current mentor with the Draylen Mason Fellow Program at Austin SoundWaves. He studies under the guidance of Dr. Susan Groves for piano and Molly Emerman for violin.
Michael is is part of From the Top’s Musicians with Disabilities celebration! Throughout the spring, From the Top is spotlighting young disabled and neurodivergent musicians who have been invited to share their talents and stories on Daily Joy.
