Teenager Plays Beethoven’s Waldstein Sonata
18-year-old composer/pianist Ethan Resnik shares an excerpt from one of his favorite Beethoven pieces, the Waldstein Sonata (Sonata No.21 in C Major).
18-year-old composer/pianist Ethan Resnik shares an excerpt from one of his favorite Beethoven pieces, the Waldstein Sonata (Sonata No.21 in C Major).
Ethan appeared on Show 377 in Morristown, NJ on November 2, 2019.
Ethan Resnik (composer), 17, lives in Bedford, New York where he is a senior at Byram Hills High School. He attends The Juilliard School Pre-College Division, studying piano with Arlene Portney and composition with Eric Ewazen. Ethan also participates in the New York Youth Symphony Composition Program. Ethan has had the opportunity to conduct his own original composition as performed by his high school wind symphony. He has also organized community concerts to raise money for an ailing classmate and to thank the PAN Foundation for their work in connecting patients with medication. Ethan also loves roller coasters, nature, and collecting seashells.
Music has the unique ability to bring joy to our lives – especially in the hands of young people. Daily Joy is a reminder of music’s power to uplift, inspire, and unite.
Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
