Lira appeared on Show 384 in Fairfax, Virginia on February 29, 2020.
Lira Masuda (violin), 10, is a fifth grader at Twin Hickory Elementary School in her hometown of Glen Allen, Virginia. She studies both violin and piano. Her violin teacher is James Stern of the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to living in Virginia, Lira lived in Singapore, Houston, and Japan. She has participated in international competitions for young violinists including the Il Piccolo Violino Magico in Italy and the Seventh Annual Singapore Performers Festival, where she was awarded the Paul Goh Bow and an opportunity to perform a concerto with the Singapore Kids Philharmonics. IN her spare time, Lira loves reading books and collecting Sumiko Grashi items.

Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
