Esme Arias-Kim (violin), 14, lives in Hoffman Estates, Illinois, and is a ninth grader at Fremd High School. She is a Merit Scholarship Fellow at the Music Institute of Chicago’s Academy and studies violin with Almita Vamos and David Lisker. Esme received Grand Prize in the junior division of the 23rd Annual Sphinx Competition and has won first place in competitions such as the New York International Artist Association, Lisker Music Foundation Young Artists Scholarship Competition, and the Walgreens National Concerto Competition. Esme enjoys writing, running, cooking and drawing, and she is especially interested in the intersection between visual art and music.
Music has the unique ability to bring joy to our lives – especially in the hands of young people. Daily Joy is a reminder of music’s power to uplift, inspire, and unite.
Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
