16-year-old violinist Chunyi Zhou performs the first movement of John Corigliano’s Violin Concerto. Chunyi loves this piece for its rich colors and energy.
Chunyi appeared on Show 354 in Los Angeles, California on March 9, 2018 with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
Chunyi Zhou (violin), 12, lives in Irvine, California where she is in seventh grade at Jeffrey Trail Middle School. A student of Linda Rose, she is a member of the Pacific Symphony’s Santiago Strings and participates in the Junior Chamber Music program. Chunyi was the grand prize winner of the American String Teachers Association, Los Angeles Finals Competition 2016 and subsequently performed with the Olympia Symphony. Her favorite musical experience was performing the fifth movement of the Lalo Symphonie Espagnole with the Orchestra Collective of Orange County, conducted by Dr. David Rentz. Outside of music, Chunyi enjoys math, science, and swimming.

Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
