Today, we are sharing a touching performance of Chopin’s Nocturne in C sharp minor, arranged for violin and piano by Nathan Milstein, performed by 14-year-old violinist Ana Isabella España. She is joined by pianist Marina Ossipova.
New York, New York Isabella performed on Show 390 from Merkin Hall on September 25, 2020.
Ana Isabella España (violin), 14, hails from New York, New York, and is in the ninth grade at the Special Music School High School at Kaufman Music Center. She began her violin studies at the age of four at Opus 118’s Harlem School of Music with Lynelle K. Smith. One of her proudest moments was winning the Special Music School Concerto Competition and performing with orchestra at the Winner’s Concert at Merkin Hall. Outside of violin, Isabella enjoys skiing and surfing, playing ukulele and piano, and keeping up with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Music has the unique ability to bring joy to our lives – especially in the hands of young people. Daily Joy is a reminder of music’s power to uplift, inspire, and unite.
Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
