Teenage cellist Daniel Dorsey shares an exciting performance of George Crumb’s Sonata for Solo Cello. He performs on an instrument purchased through the help of From the Top’s Jack Kent Cooke Young Artist Award.
Cincinnati, Ohio Daniel performed on Show 394 from Boston, Massachusetts.
Daniel Dorsey (cello), 17, hails from Cincinnati, Ohio and is in his senior year at St. Xavier High School. He studies music with Dr. Sarah Kim and Alan Rafferty through the Cincinnati Young Artists Cello Studio. Daniel has placed in numerous competitions and has performed as a soloist with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Outside of music, Daniel enjoys rock climbing, mountain biking, and doing volunteer work.

Daily Joy is a project of From the Top. It began in the very early days of the Covid-19 pandemic and continues today to offer a much-needed respite from the anxiety and worry that we encounter in the world.
