Caleb Sharkey (piano), 17, lives in New York City, where he attends Horace Mann High School. He attends the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division, where he studies piano with Golda Tatz and composition with Alexander Yagupsky. Caleb has attended several summer music festivals, including Interlochen Arts Camp in Michigan, and this past summer, Bowdoin International Music Festival, where he studied with Julian Martin and HieYon Choi.
Caleb has participated in several competitions, winning first prize at the 2024 Music International Grand Prix (Teen Piano Division), first prize & Judges Distinction Award at the 2024 American Protege International Piano and Strings Competition, Gold Medal at the 2023 Piano Star International Competition, finalist for the 2023 Claudette Sorel Piano Competition at SUNY-Fredonia, first prize at the 2023 New York Young Virtuoso Competition, and first prize at the 2023 International Grande Music Competition (Group D).
Caleb also loves to play chamber music. He was a member of the 2023-2024 New York Youth Symphony Chamber Music Division. He has also participated in the Summer Chamber Music Intensive in New York City led by Eileen Buck, in the chamber music program at Manhattan School of Music, and at the Bowdoin festival.
Apart from music, Caleb loves going on runs in Central Park, playing tennis, and Insomnia Cookies.
